I’ll Take Colin Farrell Over Prince Humperdinck, Any Day . . .

Of course, five minutes after I post my review for the original Fright Night, I see there’s a trailer up for the new one. Arg.

They’re definitely changing a few things, but . . . it still looks pretty cool.

    Um…. hmmm I’m not sure.

(Colin Farrell seems to act better when he can use his Irish accent. Or perhaps it’s when he can do a bit of comedy. In any case, his performance in “In Bruges” was light years ahead of anything else he’s done.)

The vampire resorts to arson? Does that make sense? And did that happen in the original? Presumably David Tennant will play the TV vampire hunter, except that isn’t shown in the trailer at all. On what basis is it “Fright Night” without reference to the TV show the boy watches?

Also why does the protagonist in high school look about 25?

    • I don’t know if the’s accent or just the quality of the project in general, but In Bruges is definitely the best thing Farrell’s ever done, and it makes me want to see more of him, knowing that he can do more than just look sexy.

I just looked up Yelchin, and he’s 22. Which—by Hollywood standards—is just about right for playing a 16 year old. I might get worked up about it, but Ragsdale was actually older when he played the part of Charley, and I really like Yelchin in the few things I’ve seen him in so far. I’m hopeful for him here.

I don’t think he lifted so many weights though….
