When it comes to sports movies, there are two basic types: the Inspirational and the Funny. There’s some crossover, of course, but that’s the basic divide, and I usually only watch the inspirational ones when someone drags me to see it, kicking and screaming.
I don’t mind sports comedies so much though. So.
A few things to know:
1. This poll will end next Monday, February 25th.
2. Results will likely be posted on the 25th or 26th.
3. Any and all Kevin Costner romantic dramadies are ineligible for this poll because I say so.
Sorry, buddy. I don’t care if everyone loves Bull Durham . . . I’m not having it. You just automatically tend to lower my interest in a movie, even one with Susan Sarandon in it. And Tin Cup? To hell with THAT.
Kevin Costner in a movie about golf is just about the worst thing I can think of.
A Costner movie about golf? That’s… that can’t be real. That would be like a two hour song about going to sleep, except if songs could have bad hair.
I remember liking “Tin Cup”. Haven’t seen ANY of the movies in the actual poll though….

The only one of those I’ve seen is Field of Dreams – which I liked, but in the same way as Ken Burns’ Baseball it tries to give baseball a significance it’s never had.
I’ve actually never seen Field of Dreams. I suppose I’ll have to get to it eventually, but I have very little motivation to do so at the moment.
I have no way of knowing if you would love it or hate it but as a non fan of baseball I found it interesting – mainly because it’s not really about baseball.
except if songs could have bad hair
Are you sure you’re in a position to talk about bad hair? 😉
