A sad thing happened while I was away in Idaho, and I only just found out last weekend: actress Eileen Brennan died from cancer. She was 80 years old.

Eileen Brennan acted in over a hundred different movies and television shows and snagged an Oscar nod for her work in Private Benjamin, but I knew her best from my beloved Clue, where she played the hilariously uptight Mrs. Peacock. As tribute, I thought I’d post her monologue from the dinner scene because I’ve heard it more times than I can count and laughed out loud every time.

Rest in peace, Eileen Brennan. You will be missed.
