I knew I needed to actually post something on my blog today and was planning on casting about the internet in search of inspiration . . . this was, unfortunately, not what I was hoping to find. Bob Hoskins has died of pneumonia at the age of 71.

Although he retired from acting two years ago after Snow White & The Huntsman — a particularly depressing last film — I will best remember him from movies such as Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Unleashed, and Hook. I’ve also been meaning to check out Mrs. Henderson Presents in full, having caught some of it on HBO a while back and being delighted by the banter between the late actor and Dame Judi Dench.

Rest in peace, Mr. Hoskins. You will be missed.
