Well, friends, it is officially a new year, and with a new year comes a new movie challenge. But since I so abysmally failed my last movie challenge (due to total and utter apathy), I thought I’d change things up a bit and make this year’s challenge less, well, challenging.
Thus I, Carlie St. George (cranky feminist, fairy tale enthusiast, coach potato champion), will this year of 2016 take on . . . Disney Princesses.
Last year, I had a pretty good time watching and reviewing Sleeping Beauty; after all, there was so much that I’d forgotten after 20+ years. Skeevy princes! Fail!fairies! Arbitrary fish battles! So this year, I’m going to cover all the official Disney Princess movies (with one or two extras to make it an even twelve).
The list:
- Snow White
- Cinderella
- The Black Cauldron
- The Little Mermaid
- Beauty and the Beast
- Aladdin
- Pocahontas
- Mulan
- The Princess and the Frog
- Tangled
- Brave
- Frozen
In the past, my movie challenges have always focused on films I’d never seen before, but obviously this year will be different. Although, believe it or not, I’ve actually only seen, like, six of these movies. I kind of fell out of watching Disney a while ago. It was probably all the spontaneous singing. Nothing gets stuck in your head like a godamn Disney ballad.
Presuming my brain doesn’t explode from all the musical cheer and goodwill, I think it’ll be a fun year.
So this year, I’m going to cover all the official Disney Princess movies
Nuh-uh. No “Sleeping Beauty” on the list, so that’s definitely not all of them….
What the hell is “The Black Cauldron”? I’ve never even heard of that one….
I meant all the Disney Princess movies besides the one I just watched and reviewed in 2015. 🙂
The Black Cauldron was made in 1985 and isn’t particularly well-known. But it was based on a book I read when I was a kid (the second book in The Prydain Chronicles) and there is a princess, Eilonwy. I figured it might be kind of fun to check out.
Star Wars!
Maybe that will be my reward movie for completing the challenge. 🙂
