You may remember that my screwball romantic comedy with zombies, “The Elixir of the Not-So-Disgusting Death Smell,” was published in Mothership Zeta roughly two months ago. (Or you may not remember, but now you know, and–as GI Joe taught us–knowing is half the battle!) Previously, that story had only been available to read if you bought the whole issue; now, if you’re interested, it’s free to read online here!
If you can afford the $2.99, though, I’d definitely suggest buying Volume 2, partially because I sort of feel like it’s my duty to say that, but also because I’ve now read the issue in its entirety, and it’s a lot of fun. “That Time With Bob and the Unicorn” by T. Kingfisher is particularly enjoyable, not to mention comes with this pretty interesting and analytical Story Doctor feature by James Patrick Kelly. Also in the non-fiction features: Karen Bovenmyer’s “Dictionary Writing Prompts,” which I just found delightful. (Not to mention useful. I was unfamiliar with the word “cereologist” before; now I’m just like, “Hmmmmm . . . maybe I could do something with that.”)
Either way, though, if zombie love, Girl Scout cookies, and geeky pop culture references are your thing, I definitely have a story for you.
I enjoyed this a lot – you got the balance of humour, drama, and mad science just right. 🙂
Aw, thanks!!!!!!!
